Bear Picnic

Daily Question: Hip Hop Hurray! It's Bear Picnic Day. Are you excited?

The children were excited to bring a friend bear (or other stuffed friend) and introduce their bears' name to one another. We had a brief spontaneous discussion about what various types of bears eat from a brown bear eating grubs, berries, and fish to a panda bear chewing on bamboo.

Bear Picnic Day began with the children reading Bear Books* on bean bags. We read about B the Bear blowing bright blue bubbles and saying "b, b, b" as she blew her bubbles. We then colored bear puppets that with sang and read stories with our bear hand puppets.

We learned and sang, "Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear Turn Around" and "The Bear Went Over the Mountain to See What He Could See" and the song "Going on a Bear Hunt!"

We enjoyed singing and going on our own Bear Hunts up the street and in the big back yard. While eating our picnic lunches, some of the children noticed that not everyone had the same lunches packed. They were good about asking politely and sharing.
